File under the heading, don't be stupid

Not much you can say about this,

Except that politicians will use it to try and ban Airsoft,,,,again.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/los-angeles-police-officers-shoot-man-holding-realistic-looking-airsoft-rifle

Los Angeles police officers on Saturday shot and killed a man who was seen brandishing what was later determined to be a realistic-looking airsoft rifle.

Two officers responded to a home at Grand Avenue and 102nd Street around 1:20 p.m. following a domestic violence call, police said. The area was about nine miles south of Downtown Los Angeles

An evidence photo, Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, released by Los Angeles Police Department shows a rifle collected by LAPD Firearms Analysis Unit personnel in South Los Angeles.

The man, later identified as 19-year-old Luis Herrera, came out of the residence carrying a type of rifle, according to police.

At least one officer opened fire, striking the man, who died at the scene, police said. Investigators later determined the man was holding a realistic-looking airsoft rifle without the usual safety orange barrel for fake guns.

Officials didn't release details on the exact nature of the man's confrontation with police or say whether both officers opened fire

No officers were hurt. The shooting is under investigation.

Marukoshi UX Super X very "old time" bolt action airsoft

Over the past few years, I have been "acquiring" some of the early airsoft replicas.

A few years back a writer friend of mine from the old days of Airsoft passed away.

Jess Galan was the "Dean" of airguns, His annual review in "Guns Digest" was always spot on, and his "Guns" magazine monthly column was a must read if you were into .177 or .22 pneumatic shooters.

I dealt with him a lot during my tenure at The Command Post, and sold him a ton of Airsoft guns,

He was a huge help in getting the word out about airsoft in the early days.

A dealer in South Fl was helping Jess's widow dispose of his collection on Ebay, and I stayed dead broke for a few years bidding and buying a huge portion of it off of that site.

Here is one of them, I hope to do a review soon but for now, enjoy the pictures of this "classic"

Airsoft, Smith and Wesson style.

Saw this today and thought I would share it.

Over the past few months, I have been concentrating on acquiring any S&W airsoft that I did not already have a representative sample of.

I hope to soon have a lot of S&W reviews up.

Smith & Wesson®: A Globally Recognized License Partner

While the name UMAREX® is relatively new in the US market, we know you have heard of Smith & Wesson. What you also likely don’t know is that Smith & Wesson has had a long relationship with this family-owned German company. You see, inside the mystery of the name “Umarex” lies a tie to the storied Walther® brand. The very much abbreviated version of the story is that, due to the 1968 Handgun Control Act, the PPK® had to be made stateside or it couldn’t be sold in the US at all. At first, Interarms manufactured the PPK and PPK/S® for Walther, but as that business had some difficulties arise, Smith & Wesson stepped in to help the German manufacturer with distribution, manufacturing, and even developed some joint projects with Walther along the way.

Meanwhile in Germany, the Pflaumer and Wonish families bought Walther and added that legendary brand to their family-owned UMAREX umbrella. This relationship with Smith & Wesson was absolutely crucial in keeping the Walther brand alive in the US. Even though it later became necessary that Walther split from Smith & Wesson - as at the end of the day they are competing for the same market - the UMAREX brand has remained close to Smith & Wesson through licensed products.

“BB guns” are often thought of as kids toys by adults. They are gifts given to kids to be used under adult supervision so the kid can experience a little of what it is like when mom and dad shoot the real steel at the range. While there is some merit to this, we here at Umarex USA want to let you know that while we do in fact make “BB guns”, our Smith & Wesson replicas are top-notch and something you might find worthy of owning for yourself.

Here is a highlighted look on some of our 1:1 Smith & Wesson replicas that you may find intriguing for your own use or maybe as a gift for someone close to you.

S&W® M29 “44 Magnum”

If anyone knows a thing or two about revolvers it would be Smith & Wesson. When the Elmer Keith inspired 44 Magnum N framed M29 came about it was the perfect blend of extreme performance with legendary build quality. Finally, after 60 plus years on the market, UMAREX has brought out several versions of this huge revolver.  The .177 caliber version features an 8” barrel, swing out cylinder and shoots BBs (can shoot pellets, too!) from a realistic shell casing.  This newest S&W replica is also available in 6mm airsoft models with 3 inch, 5 inch, and 8 inch barrels. All S&W M29 Models are powered by the common 12 gram CO2 cartridge.

S&W M&P* 40

How many of the original M&P 9 and 40s are on the market, I’ll never know. But what I do know is that the first time I shot one, I was in love with the ergonomics, feel, and performance offered by the Military & Police Series pistol. UMAREX’s S&W M&P 40 is a full-blowback .177 caliber BB version of this platform. Blowback simply means that the slide articulates just like your firearm’s slide does when it is shot. Additionally, the magazine release and slide release function just like your real steel version does. You can even expect the slide to lock back on the last round! UMAREX makes both .177 and 6mm airsoft versions of the original M&P 40 and they are both powered by 12 gram CO2.

S&W M&P R8

Available in 6mm airsoft only, the M&P R8 is a CO2 powered 8-shot revolver that takes on the superb handling M&P revolver with a 5” barrel and ergonomic grip.  One great use for airsoft pistols like this is for live force-on-force training. Airsoft pistols like this DA/SA revolver are great training tools for driving home sound tactics in self-defense scenarios. Just be sure to use plenty of protective gear as these BBs will sting when they make contact!

S&W M&P9 M2.0

A few years ago when Smith & Wesson updated the M&P 9 with the M2.0 we also updated our airgun replica model to match.  Our M&P9 M2.0 replicas are available in both .177 BB or 6mm airsoft and powered by 12 gram CO2. Both the .177 BB and 6mm airsoft versions are blowback and feature last round hold open as well as a full-size magazine with the same magazine release you would find on your firearm version.  Not only that, but you can change out the grip swell to match the one you use on your real steel version.

S&W M&P9 M2.0 .43 Caliber

For shooters looking to get the most from a training platform or just absolutely rocking out in mag-fed paintball, the T4E S&W M&P9 M2.0 .43 caliber paintball pistol is your solution for paint, dust, or rubber ammo performance. Of course, paint and dust projectiles offer marking capability to the target for easy hit identification.  Rubber training ammo, however, can be reused. With cheap, reliable CO2 power, the M&P M2.0 .43 caliber offers 8 shots of rapid fire performance, and duty holster fit. Take your force on force training to the next level with the blue slide M&P M2.0 LE version CO2 powered marker or hit the paintball field with the black slide M&P M2.0 magfed version!

Umarex Airguns is proud to make these highly realistic officially licensed Smith & Wesson airgun replicas. While we do have a large number of our replicas in the hands of BB gun fans, increasingly real steel shooters are picking up an airgun replica for training purposes. It’s no secret that ammo prices are high and sometimes ammo is hard to find. Using an airgun or even a S&W rubberball/powderball pistol can offer you the chance to get in trigger time that you might be missing out on due to the economic burden shooting center-fire ammo can create. Additionally, with devices like the Mantis X laser training aid, a shooter can train with an airgun replica and not even shoot BBs.

Hello Boys,,,,I'm Back. Did you miss me?

Well, it has been a while since I visited this old blog of mine
I see that Photobucket has canceled my account, so there are a few gaps I need to fill on the back timeline.
The reason I did come back, is farceblook, in all of it's magnificent glory, decided they did not need "my kind" around, so they
Perma banned me,
no reason given!
So, as I was going to start up the page there and start doing some crap again with airsoft, I had to move to plan "B"
At one time, I use to pull in 10 blog views a week, I doubt I will get back up to that kind a astounding readership again, but I will give it a try. ( and honestly, I was addicted to that face thing, and now that I cant even look at it, I am bored shitless!)

I hope to do some reviews on some of the 500 or so airsoft guns I have accrued in the past few years, and maybe some reminiscing about the "old days"

There wont be any game  playing though, a couple years back the Govt decided that I was broken enough to not work, and now I just sit on the front porch and yell at squirrels.
(it is better that way, the pittance they return to me of my money they "borrowed" over the years, keeps me in cat food and BB's and keeps me from going out in public, something everyone around is happy that I don't do)

So, let's try this again, and see if I can entertain you just a little in the coming months,

An old man rages against ignorance

An old man rages against ignorance ( Airsoft Revolvers)

Y'all know by now,
 I am old.
I started out yesterday and
checked on that newfangled "Facebook" thingy
to see what peoples dogs were up to
and if I got "poked" over night or not.

I found this

(I wrote this post 3 years ago, and forget to publish it!, now the vid has been taken down, so, just imagine a video in your head)

Now, anyone who has seen my pathetic attempts at video know,
I do crappy ones, but when I watched this one, I went BALLISTIC.

It was not due to the fact that I guess they didn't have a script,
that must have been the reason that the same adjectives were used over and over.

It was not even due to the fact that just because it has
 "Dan Wesson"
trademarks on the barrel and it looks nothing like a Dan Wesson.

It was not even the fact that they deleted my well thought out comment
on their Facebook page

It was because of the gun handling skills of the presenter.

In talking with a younger colleague on the landline later that evening
( one who is well versed in Real steel tactical weapons),
I came to realize that it is an age thing, not a stupidity thing.

So,
because I seem to buy every Tanaka revolver
that comes up for sale,
if you have the time,
here is a school on what not to do on your airsoft revolver.

It really is just one thing you need to remember
DON'T LEARN YOUR GUN HANDLING SKILLS FROM MOVIES OR TV SHOWS.

I would love to have the time to chop up
bad gun handling clips from TV and movies
into a quick youtube vid
( if I knew how)
but for this installment,
here is the one that really gets under my skin.

The spinning and wrist flip to close the cylinder into the frame.

Now I know it looks cool, just like the "HK" slap
but every time you flip out the cylinder or flip it back in
you are putting severe strain on this part

That "L" shaped piece is called the crane,
although it looks like a stout piece of steel,
it is not designed to take the stresses put on it by the "flip"
It will go out of alignment,
in an airsoft gun,
this just means that your 130-300.00 gun is now worthless,
but if you do it with a real steel one,
it means that your bullet could impact the side of the forcing cone
causing a "Catastrophic failure" (That means BOOM)

Also, when you spin the cyl and flip it closed,
you could do damage to the ratchet and hand
(other parts that no one sells for airsoft!)

To properly close the cyl, cup it gently in your non support hand
and ease it into the frame,
That's it, do it slower, just like that.
( wow, where did that come from,
I think I like my revolvers a little too much!)

I worked for a little company called Smith & Wesson
 for a few years,
they made a revolver or two and I sold a few.

I guess this is why I get so upset when I see this done
"on the street"

I know a lot of people today have never fired a revolver,
 real or airsoft,
so after taking my blood pressure meds and my heart pills,
I have calmed a little and now understand.
Your not doing it just to piss me off,
you just did not know that it could do damage.
Now you do

If you would like more information on this topic,
or any others I have covered

READ A DAMN BOOK,
OR GET OUT THE ENCYCLOPEDIA
AND STAY THE HELL OFF MY LAWN, damn kids
where's my glasses?

Till later,
Stay Thirsty my friends....

Man, it has been a while

Wow, bet y'all have thought I kicked the old bucket of bb's huh!

Nope, I am still horizontal (and sometimes vertical)

 and still accumulating 6mm shooters.

I am older, but no wiser and while my mind thinks I am still a spry teenager, my body tells me different.

I want to start doing some more reviews, and trying to promote some of the new players to the airsoft building.

I WONT be doing much "field work", as most weeks, I cant walk three days out of them and cant talk 2 days, and they rarely overlap!

But I can still type, and shoot guns, so I want to be still good for something.

I have picked up some strange and wonderful items form the past and would like to share them with Y'all.

I really dont know if blogging is even still a "thing",

or if I have to have Vids to go along with it,

but one thing you do not want to see is my face, or hear me talk, so I hope that is not the case.

So, keep a look out and lets see if I can follow thru this time.

here are some of the items coming up

Till later, stay thirsty my friends

It is like that

IT"S ALIVE

Like a long dormant horror lying unseen under the permafrost,
 I have been lurking.
Waiting, Planing, Eating Bacon Cheetos, until the time was right.
to Rise up, and
 ROAR,

I AM ALIVE.

And have returned to haunt the airsoft world.

What could possibly drag me from my self induced exile to bring me back to this endeavor started in 1986?

Why, oh why, you ask,
what did we ever do to resurrect this Demon
"Ellwood",
 we though was long dead,
a tiny footnote in airsoft history?

Well, I will tell you.
Some gentlemen in southern North Carolina that,
although well meaning,
were clueless to the devastation it would bring upon the world,
uttered the words that brought upon my rebirth.

Those words were,
COWBOY AIRSOFT
'
While there have been other games across the US,
this is the 1st one close enough I think I can get to.

My "medical difficulties" means a long drive by myself is out.
So that would mean having someone to go with.

Riding in a vehicle for any length of time with me is listed by the United Nations as,
"Abject and Cruel Torture"
So I have to find a kind and unwitting soul to take me,
and pray that there will be enough of their mind left
to get me home at the end of the day.

This is but a preview, I hope to add more posts and
that this wonderful idea grows some legs and becomes a
 "thing"

Check out the Facebook page here for more information,
https://www.facebook.com/groups/850419485152798/

I will keep you posted
See Y'all soon

Stay thirsty my Friends.
