SHOT Show 2014

OH NO!

38 days until another fabulous week in Sin City.

I hope to bring you tales of daring do and  debauchery,  but do remember, I am old.

Dinner at 4 and in bed by 7 is my kind of fun now.

Take this time and look back of my past posts from SHOT show years ago,
they should be good for a laugh or two.

Remember,
Winter is coming ,
If you don't get this, your too young to read this blog

Ordered my Brad Thor jacket so I will be warm and styling at the show this year.

Hope there are some new Airsoft items to show off at the show.
Last year was pretty slim.

Let me know if there is a booth you want to see pictures from.
I have a real photographer ( Rusty Spenser from photobyrusty.com ) and a video guy this year so it should be easy to do.

I won, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You

Seems like the wild and crazy guys over at Popular Airsoft had gotten tried
of my constant whining and pouting after each contest and decided they would shut me up for good.
So........I WON

I was just honored to be nominated, blah, blah ,blah
( insert self deprecating comment here)
Bull crap, I won and I am happy!

I now can say I have an award winning blog.
I know it has not been up to snuff lately and I can't blame it on flying monkeys this time.

Here is what really happened, but don't tell anyone.
See, I am a very vocal and strident guns rights advocate.
Knowing that, and knowing what they were planing to do, the government had to silence me.
They knew my ability to turn a phrase and my mastery of the keyboard could hurt them.

Their nefarious plan was kicked off at a trade show in Orlando, FL on the 31'st of October
I believe that they had trained flocks of radio controlled mosquitoes to inject me with a toxin.

(little did they know, I had been married, twice! I think both of my saintly x wives put just a little poison in my Dr Pepper each day. (I know I would if I had to live with me), so I built up an immunity.)

I lost my voice at the show,
(now, this happened at every trade show I have done for years, I am a talker)

When I drove back to my lair in NC, I was deathly ill
( this happens every time also, I have the immune system of a 2 week old)

Week one, after my return, still no voice

Week three, still croak out my words

Week four, OK, this is getting serious.

A trip to the sawbones and a fiber optic camera shoved up my nose and down my throat told the tale.
Paralyzed vocal cord on the left side.
( Doctor had "No idea" how it happened, ya, right)

A CT scan found a huge mass on my Thyroid, so, more tests.
I had a biopsy the day before I left for SHOT show.

Las Vegas is a fun town,
not so much when your waiting to hear if you have the Big C or not though.
.
I found out on Thursday of that week, no cancer was found..
I think this is the 1st time I cried at a SHOT show,
no, wait... there was the year 2000 show when I worked for S&W and everyone was mean and hated us,
wait again, I didnt cry... I remember,

A bunch of us S&W guys went out and got drunk and were very rude to people and we told them to suck it and if they wanted to complain we worked for Glock, that's what we did.

Oh, sorry, back to the story.
Last Friday, I went under the knife and they took out my left thyroid.
I have since been convalescing at home existing on a cocktail of codeine and anti nausea meds.

Voice, still ain't back, but there is hope..

(Update , I was told if I went over 6 months, I had a 80% chance I would never get my voice back.
On the morning of the 6 months anniversary, I woke up, and said "Good Morning Chance" (my dog)
My voice had returned!!!!!)

There was much rejoicing

Since then, (Now is Nov 2018) I have gone from talking fine to having a few days a month, to not being able to talk 2 to 3 days a week.

So I say, Suck it you minions of the
Military Industrial Complex,

you Bilderbergers,

you Trilateralists

who tried to keep me down.
I will rise again, I will keep fighting the good fight,
I will not be kept down by the man.
Airsoft now, Airsoft forever!

More to come soon.

Till tomorrow,

Zombie Shoot, Costume ideas Top Ten List

The local shooting club has a "Zombie Match" at the end of every month.
It is run with 22 cal guns and they tell me it's a lot of fun. ( I know, this is RS stuff, but hey, it's fun)
I ordered a holster and mag pouch for my Ruger 22/45
I also ordered a Uramex HK MP5SD 22lr rifle.
I figured that I need to dress the part if I am going to do it.
I was on the phone tonight with Sam from X-caliber Tactical and asked for some ideas,
I should have known better !

So after a hour or so he sent me these,

So Tim's going to attend a "Zombie Hunter" gun shoot and needs some costume ideas....

1.   Since Tim actually is an ordained priest (Honest!! Would I lie about a servant of the Lord?!)

2.  Since Tim is a priest with aspirations... and because the Pope has put Tim as number 2 on his most wanted list behind the Devil after the now famed "Buca Di Beppo  incident at SHOT 2010.

3.   Have you really not seen that movie trailer yet?

4.    I would imagine this would also get Tim free gas when his truck squeals to a stop in front of a gas station and then he rushes in.. offering to pay for it in cash.

5.  Why not use Tim's arch enemy to his own advantage?  Plus imagine all the Sean Connery insults he would be able to throw out.  "I zombied your mother last night!"

6. Tim can just wear that blood splattered shirt from SHOT Show, you know, after you hacked up that hooker at that suite at TI.....oops..  um.... everyone forget what I just said there...

7.  Remember Tim... it's a chainsaw... not the leaf blower...

8.  The only reason why I suggest this is because Tim already has the costume.  Besides, where do you think Zombie Hunters originally came from?

9.   If Batman can make it work for him, to take what you fear most and turn it  into what strengthens you....why not?

10.   If Flying Monkeys can make it work for him to take what you fear most ,....why not?

Now it's your turn
Do you have any to add?
More airsoft stuff coming soon.
Same Bat time, Same Bat Channel.

Till tomorrow

Watch out Las Vegas, your about to get BEAT DOWN

Well, it is 2012
Friday the 13th at that!
NAFOM and the crew from Beat Down Boogie are finishing up their packing.
We are headed out  to do some early recon before SHOT Show starts.
Snake and Ghost from MWGS, Dash and Percy from Myth Hunters, Matt and Micha and Brian and myself will be winging our way across the country this evening.
( if we all make it though security that is)
Watch here and here for some great pic's and videos as we tour first the Army Navy Military Expo,
and then the ginormous industry only SHOT Show
A lot of media will be at SHOT, and you will have a lot of choices as to what to look at, hopefully, due to the BDB crew we will be one of them.

If your lucky enough (or cursed, depends on how you look at it) to be in Las Vegas this weekend or coming week, look me up. Write a comment or come by booth 26206 (FoxFury lighting)
I promise not to chase you off my lawn with a M1 Grand.

You should be able to find me, few people at shot dress like this

Now you see why I am fretting security

You can find many types of guns at SHOT, I hope to find a BULL PUNCHER

Friday the 13th, Great day to fly!

All of us, on this plane? Boy, the airlines are really cutting back!

See you tomorrow
And remember

Blast from the past, SHOT Show 1987 with airsoft.

When I say I have been into airsoft for a long time,
I really mean a looooooooooooong time.

Just dug up some pictures from the first time airsoft guns were shown at the SHOT show.
Now, back in 1987 , the SHOT show was a whole lot smaller than the behemoth it has become,
here are some pic's taken from the over-walk in the Riverside center in New Orleans.

Realtree has a 10ft inline booth, Federal really stepped up with a 20x30

You can see Safarilands 20x20 end cap booth,

Crosman had a huge display, of course no where near today's size.

That was just about the entire show, I have not been able to find how many vendors were there, but it was not a huge number.
Now here was our booth, Airsoft, brought to you by Command Post

No aeg's ( they had not been made yet), some "Classic" ( now days) MGC guns.
Lots of spring TM's and such.
On the left side is the Para Ordnance Model 85 paintball sub gun, yes para got into the bizz by 1st making a primer propelled full auto paintball gun, a few years later they had the idea for a double stack 1911 frame, and the rest was history .
That is Laurence ( Larry) Lee Littlefield in the monkey suit.
The founder of Command Post and  a hell of a guy to work the trade shows with.
How about that display?
The paint was still wet when we loaded it into the suburban to drag it to New Orleans.
You have to love the magic marker signs, made up just for SHOT
We were right across from a 10x10 booth that was selling some strange looking knives,
Spyderco, I think the name was, I don't think they ever caught on.

Me in Jackson Square after set up, yes, I was young once.

Now some pictures of Command Posts command center.
We started in a two room office, moved to a house that had been converted to a law firm and then ended up in a three story old department store on the main drag of Crestview FL.

This was the sales center, we put the money into inventory and computers,
not so much in ambiance.

My office, 1987 and yes, in 2011 my desk at home looks just like that, in fact I am using the same computer!
I wish I remembered what model those were, I know that they cost us and arm and a leg back then.

If you expand the pic and look close, you can see the stacks of Tokyo Marui springers in the black and silver boxes. The daisy boxes in the foreground are part of the huge amount of "soft airs" that we had.
Daisy only marketed them for a year or so, we bought all of their inventory when they shut down the line.
I think it was about two box cars full, yes we had a train spur at the back door and got a lot of our freight via railroad, not kidding about this, it was a lot cheaper way to ship.
We used to get paintball by the boxcar from R P Shear,
man that was a mess if the boxes had shifted during travel.

I will try and get the catalog scanned after the North Atlantic Airsoft Expo is over,
Will be updating from the Expo each day,
I know I said that when I went to SHOT, but this one is close to home.
Just a couple more pic's to suffer thru, hey old men like to reminisce.

Massad Ayoob ( Google him) shooting a Para Ordnance model 85
Paintball subgun at the Trail Glades range in Miami in 1987 during a LFI 1 course.

Ernie Franco (great knife fighting instructor and a super guy, RIP)
Lynn Thompson (Founder Cold Steel knives) and I at Epcot center Pre Opening in Orlando
 in 1982 (I think).

Ernie could cut you six ways from Sunday before you could even blink,
I learned a lot from that man, he was truly a super guy that died too early.
Lynn was a trip then, and if you have seen any of his you tube Cold steel proof vids,
he still is now.
Man, was I ever that young.

See you tomorrow,
And remember,

SHOT SHOW Part Duh,

This was a great year for airsoft media at SHOT show.
Looking over the offering that have been posted from the last few days has been eye opening.
I think in most ways the Airsoft community has surpassed the old "professional" gun media.

Bravo, gentlemen, Bravo.

I on the other hand, I did what I normally do,
I fell down on the job and SUCKED at bringing you any scoops or great insights.
Here are some pictures I took , just so I can delete them from my camera.

The "sky" in the Venetian hotel restaurant area, very classy.

Myself and a man that has saved more lives than Superman and Batman combined,
Richard Davis.
Mr Davis is the father of soft body armor.
He has shot himself ( with a vest on) more than 300 times
( I think that was the figure)
Because of this man there are many people still walking the earth that wouldn't be.
Still a true gentleman, even at the end of a long show, he took the time to talk with me about a armored bag project I am fiddling with.
What a guy.

View from my room on the 30th  floor of the TI

Ares new Grease Gun, look forward to shooting it next month.

Close up of the grease gun, very nice work on this one.

Cyberguns "Blackwater" logo non blowback co2 GSR

Inakotsu 1911 GBB, wwwooowww, this is as nice as all the hype for it has said it was.

I kept coming back to the Spartan Imports booth just to pick this one up.
very well made

Cyberguns Blackwater logo 1911 GBB, KJ works made.

Glad to see the "bear Paw" logo is not totally dead,
but I would imagine that this could drive a Liberal right up a tree.
I truly hope that Jeremy Scahill has children,
and he catches one of them in the backyard playing with one of these.

Right side of the Cybergun GSR Blackwater

King Arms AR with Blackwater logo

Thats all for tonight, my final thoughts in the next post.
If you get a chance next year, beg borrow or steal the money and get to SHOT.
Make sure you come in early and stay for the whole show.
If you have any love for things that go boom, you will not ever regret the experince.

Just ask Thumpy,
I think it will take 6 months for him to come down from
the SHOT Show high.

Now some stuff I found you might chuckle at.

This picture showed up on Gizmodo for some kind of "show us your computer set up" contest.
It was hilarious to read the comments.
The screen shot is Japanese, so I am sure the guns are airsoft
( that and the mini gun in the right corner of the shot)
I promise to never take a picture of my storage warehouse,
I would hate to be responsible for liberals everywhere dropping like flies with heart palpitations.

I love the second patch.

Little Ralph was 7 years old and was staying with his  grandmother for a few days.
He'd been playing  outside with the other kids for a while when he came into the house and asked her:
'Grandma, what's that called when two  people sleep in the same room and one is on top of the other?'
She was a little taken aback, but she decided to tell him the truth. 'It's  called sex, darling.'
   Little Ralph  said, 'Oh, OK,'
and went back outside to play with the other kids.
A few minutes later he came back in and said angrily,
'Grandma, it isn't called  sex.
 It's called Bunk Beds.
And Howie's mom wants to talk to  you.'

Till Tomorrow
